01 Aug 2009 - Village Fete

And so did we let the British Summer deter us – no ! After an emergency meeting in the morning we decided to proceed with a few changes. The morning stayed reasonably fine, but at 10 minutes before the Fete was officially opened by Rory the Village Crier, the heavens opened and we all got a little damp.

But not in spirit – and the outdoor wellie-wanging, coconut shy and fly fishing casting all did good business. The ‘indoor’ stalls (well, they were under a gazebo) also all did well and everybody who attended seemed to enjoy themselves. The event was finished off by an auction and the announcement of the Raffle winners. So far, over £2500 has been raised from the event for Acorns Children’s Hospice – and we know of more cash to come.

Many thanks to all who helped to make the event happen – we hope you also enjoyed yourselves. Special note to Robin Hood and Maid Marion – now we know what you get up to after dark

PS - The furthest reported balloon was found near Rugby.
