Village Fantasy League was setup in 2001 – so now in its
8th year. The League size has varied between 14 and 24, and
previous winners include Charles, Jim, Mike, Joff and Pat..

managers have competed every year – some still trying
to get on the winner’s podium!
Rules
You can choose a maximum of ONE player from any Premiership
team and you must select a 4-4-2 formation (one goalkeeper,
two full-backs, two centre-backs, four midfielders and two strikers).
You
have a budget to spend on your 11 players – and not surprisingly,
that budget does not allow you to buy all the best players.
Some players are also ‘suspended’ from the player
list – this varies on an annual basis. It’s to try
and stop every manager having the highest performer from the
top clubs.
Players score points ONLY for Premiership matches
- League Cup, FA Cup, European and International matches do
not count.
Points
are allocated as per the Press Association. Barton League updates
will be posted in the pub at least once a month (typically more
often…) or take a look below for a shortened league table!
• Goal 3 pts
• Assist (last completed pass from attacking player to
goalscorer) 2 pts
• Defender/Goalkeeper appearance (playing 45 minutes or
more of a match) 1 pt
• Defender/Goalkeeper clean sheet
(when on the field for 75 full minutes or more, includes appearance
point) 3 pts
• Defender/Goalkeeper goal conceded -1 pt
Transfers
can be made each month – a maximum of 3 per month.
Transfers are the first Sunday of the month (unless the last
day of the month is a Sunday).
There
is an entry fee – historically all entry fees have been
paid back as prize money (for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 13th). In 2006-07,
£5 of each individual’s entry fee contributed to
Barton Village Fund.
The
new season will start in August 2009.
